Pizza 51

Pizza 51, a welcome addition to Olathe

I was had the opportunity to try Pizza 51 in downtown Olathe on Monday during lunch, and I encourage you to give it a try also.

The facility is a decent size to sit down and take in the well decorated ambiance. The location is a well known garage (still feels weird how the KC metro seems to like to put food in places that have a lot of residual contaminants that require a lot of work to make food safe). In the twenty years I have lived in Olathe the location has never looked so good. It appears from the outside to be a high scale garage, and the inside continues this motif, but with kitschy lamps made of oil cans and signs acquired from assorted car themed venues. Everything is immaculately clean and open. Including the bay windows where you can watch the trains and pedestrians go by. There is also a beautiful patio for that that like to eat outside like I do.

The kitchen flows into the dining area where you can salivate watching the pizzas everyone orders as you watch them get boxed, or plated and delivered to their owner. The pizza come in all sizes from a slice (about the size of a small pizza) to a 26" in diameter. I had a slice for lunch and felt full for the rest of the day. The pizza is build your own, there is a base price and you pay extra per topping you choose. They have 5 topping pizza suggestions for those that have trouble deciding what they like. I got a vegetarian slice on my visit and really appreciate how flavorful both the crust and the individual toppings are, especially the broccoli.
